Position Summary Trout Unlimited is hiring for the full time position of Junior Operational Data Analyst. TU is a national organization, with offices around the country, and a diverse IT enterprise for supporting functions such as membership services, fundraising, grants management, volunteer operations, and finance. The Junior Operational Data Analyst plays a key role in daily operations, in ongoing data analytics and reporting needs. The position is based in Arlington, Virginia out of Trout Unlimited's national office. Primary responsibilities will include: Providing data and integration support for Trout Unlimited programs, fundraising campaigns, and customer experience initiatives Improving and maintaining data quality in our CRM system - netFORUM Hands-on technical work at the database level (stored procedures; scheduled jobs; imports, updates, and exports) Working with system integrations and data exchanges Data analytics and reporting The ideal candidate will have: 3-5 Years working experience in netFORUM (preferable) Some database and SQL skills Experience with general programming/scripting Strong written communication skills Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills Presentation-quality analytics and reporting skills A detail-oriented, self-motivated aptitude for organizing, prioritizing, and finishing tasks Work experience in a fundraising context and/or in member-based organizations is a plus If you are seeking a fast-paced environment within which to utilize and hone your skills–while contributing to the TU mission to conserve, protect and restore North America's cold water fisheries and their watersheds–this could be the position for you. Duties and Responsibilities Perform data processing tasks as assigned, including support of regularly scheduled marketing campaigns and customer experience and initiatives Provide general support to internal departments with data- and CRM-related needs, including membership, marketing, volunteer operations, online operations, major gifts development, accounting, and finance. Perform timing-critical tasks such as the weekly fulfillment process and manually-assisted system integrations. Prepare and deliver regular reports and data snapshots such as revenue reports and member counts. Perform technical database administration and support tasks such as upkeep of scheduled jobs, maintaining database integrity, monitoring error logs, and generally supporting the enterprise production environment. Utilize Trout Unlimited's reporting tools and analytics platform to craft useful, satisfying end-user experiences and data views. This will include assisting with staff requests for reports, queries, charts, and other data views. Assist in the upkeep and improvement of Trout Unlimited's CRM platform, which includes many plug-in frameworks and customization capabilities. Assist in the upkeep and improvement of internally developed applications, tools, and script libraries. Contribute to and maintain end-user and system documentation. Work as necessary with Trout Unlimited's vendors and partners, including support, troubleshooting, instructions, specifications, handoffs, integrations, and other initiatives. Perform other duties as assigned. This will be a position on the IT team, reporting to the IT team leader, directly supporting various departments within the TU organization. Qualifications Strong database skills required, including knowledge and hands-on production experience with at least one major RDBMS product (Microsoft SQL Server preferred). Strong declarative SQL skills, with an emphasis on OLTP data work in a fully normalized schema. Some level of DBA knowledge, for general database management, performance monitoring, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting. Some level of exposure to a CRM platform (Salesforce, Dynamics) or an AMS (netFORUM) is a big plus. Experience in a high-stakes production/operations environment is a big plus. General experience with Microsoft operating systems, servers, Office applications, and enterprise applications a big plus (though Trout Unlimited does make use of a good bit of open-source technology as well). Some level of user-facing design experience is a plus, including user interfaces, reports, dashboards, documentation, and presentations. Hands-on experience with Microsoft Excel and/or Access in a job setting is a plus. Marketing, fundraising, and/or nonprofit experience is a plus. Strong written and verbal communications skills required. Workdays will cover normal east-coast business hours. However, we do require some flexibility to work with a nationally dispersed staff, covering four time zones. The IT team also occasionally has after-hours events like deployments and upgrades.
