Position Summary

This position will assist the Controller with month end account reconciliations and higher level tasks of the accounting department. Review bank account and general ledger account reconciliations. Create procedures documentation. Reconcile accounting records to donor database. Manage the accounts payable process. Assist with posting billings to grant expenditures.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review reconciliations of cash, investment accounts and line of credit
  • Review AP vouchers, credit card reconciliations, and electronic payments
  • Research deposits when necessary and apply cash receipts to appropriate AR invoices
  • Perform analyses of prepaid expenses, deposits, and other general ledger accounts
  • Reconcile GL to donor database
  • Assist with accounts receivables invoicing
  • Prepare monthly fixed asset depreciation entry and maintain fixed asset schedule
  • Assists Controller with monitoring balance sheet accounts
  • Prepare property tax returns and file sales tax returns
  • Ensure all state and corporate filings are up to date
  • Create procedures documentation
  • Assist Controller with annual audit, form 990 preparation; and special projects as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum education: Bachelor Degree in accounting or related field
  • 5 years of experience in nonprofit accounting
  • CPA a plus
  • Experience with Federal grants and regulations preferred
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Able to manage large sets of data and multiple requests from staff
  • Excellent communication skills; customer service is a must
  • Discrete, confidential, team player
  • Proven proficiency in Microsoft SL
  • Computer literacy: Microsoft Office, Word and Excel, pivot tables a plus
  • Able to meet strict deadlines and work with minimal supervision
  • Experience working in a fast paced, ever changing environment.
