TROUT UNLIMITED’S
EASTERN WATER PROJECT
PROJECT DIRECTOR
Job Announcement

Trout Unlimited (TU) is North America’s leading coldwater fisheries conservation organization, dedicated to the conservation, protection and restoration of trout and salmon fisheries and their watersheds. The organization has more than 140,000 members in 400 chapters across North America. TU’s vision is that, by the next generation, trout and salmon will be restored throughout their native range. To accomplish this vision, TU works to protect intact habitat, restore degraded habitat, and reconnect the two through restoration of instream flows and removal of barriers. Finally, TU seeks to sustain its achievements through outreach and youth education.

TU is hiring a director for its Eastern Water Project, a project created in 2005 to assure sustainable water management and healthy instream flows in the Eastern U.S.  The goals of the project are, through advocacy and grassroots mobilization, to reform, or create, if absent, state surface and groundwater laws, to protect healthy streamflows, and to restore water to already degraded watersheds.  The preferred office location for the Eastern Water Project is Albany, New York.

  • Increase public awareness of the relationship between instream flow policy and aquatic health.
  • Identify project and funding opportunities to expand TU’s work on streamflow issues to the Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, and Great Lakes states.
  • Work with TU development staff on fundraising, including identifying potential funding sources, drafting grant proposals, and developing relationships with funders.
