With wild salmon runs disappearing from the planet, Bristol Bay is a place of international importance because of its prolific wild salmon runs and the economies they support. It faces imminent threat from the proposed Pebble Mine as well as hard rock mining on adjacent state and federal land. The Bristol Bay watershed must be protected from Pebble and other large-scale mining projects. Take action and help Save Bristol Bay today.

Salmon is big business and consumers wield a lot of power in the marketplace through their purchasing decisions. When you buy wild salmon, you are investing your dollars in our nation's sustainable wild salmon fisheries and are adding value to the freshwater habitat that wild salmon rely on during the most critical stages of their life cycle. If consumers were to stop buying wild salmon, then farm-raised salmon would quickly replace it. If that happens, then wild salmon conservation and management would no longer be a priority and we would lose the incentive to restore and protect freshwater salmon habitat. So vote with your fork and do your part to save wild salmon: eat one.

Trout Unlimited's Stream Explorers membership offers kids a chance to learn about wild fish and the natural world. Now more than ever, kids need to be inspired to get outside and discover the fascinating life of trout and salmon and the rivers that sustain them. A Stream Explorers membership is a positive step toward creating the next generation of environmental stewards. Benefits include issues of Stream Explorers or Trout magazine, a Trout Unlimited wall calendar, and a Trout Unlimited membership card.

A flagship program of Trout Unlimited's Youth Education efforts, Trout in the Classroom offers students of all ages a chance to raise trout in a classroom setting and then release them into a nearby stream or river. During the eight months that classes spend raising trout, they closely monitor water temperature, water clarity, dissolved oxygen, ammonia levels, and pH. Because trout are extremely sensitive to changes in their environment, students learn the importance of clean water and environmental protection. Trout in the Classroom brings nature into the classroom and allows students to develop a personal bond and sense of the conservation ethics that are at the core of Trout Unlimited's mission.
