Our presentation topic for the April MDTU meeting is “Fly Fishing in Maryland”. Our panel will include two experts, Rob Lepczyk, a well-respected fly fishing instructor and guide from Great Feathers fly shop, and MDTU President, Tom Starrs.
Tom has spent decades discovering, exploring, and fishing the trout streams of our state that hold brook trout. Tom will address how one finds out-of-the-way trout streams and the best methods for fishing them.
Rob's biography demonstrates his intelligence, expertise, and dedication to our sport: "My name is Rob Lepczyk, I work at Great Feathers fly shop in Sparks. I have been fly fishing the Gunpowder since I was a little kid and guiding on the river the last five years. I like to think of myself as a fly fishing instructor rather than a guide; I teach people to fly fish, not just catch them fish. I take special care to ensure my students learn as much as possible even if we do not catch any fish. Through the classes we do at Great Feathers, I have taught close to five hundred people to cast. I have traveled all over the Rocky Mountain West, the Caribbean and sampled some the best trout fishing the East has to offer. I truly love what I do and love to share my passion with others."
