This year's winner of the Golden Trout Award is Dale Lange from the Marinette Chapter. Dale has been a member of Trout Unlimited since 1984 and has served the Marinette Chapter in several officer positions. He has been involved in the very successful Marinette Chapter banquet since 1985 and has served as the banquet chair for the past nine years.
Dale is an educator and once he joined Trout Unlimited he soon found ways to educate people about trout fishing. He worked with the Peshtigo and Marinette Recreation Departments to develop a youth fishing day program which is now in its 24th year. He also developed a separate trout fishing program that meets one night per week for four weeks every winter in Marinette.
Dale has also been a strong supporter of the State Council. He served the Council as its education chair several years ago and has also represented Marinette as its delegate to the Northeast Region for many years. The contributions that Dale brings with him to the Northeast Regional meetings from Marinette have been a critical part of the strong Northeast Regional funding program.
A huge part of what has impressed the State Council of Dale is his continuing strong support of Trout Unlimited in the face of some challenging times. Since 2008, Dale has lost both parents, a sister-in-law, and his brother and has assumed guardianship of his brother's two daughters. In spite of those challenges, Dale has never waivered in his support for Trout Unlimited. The State Council is truly lucky to have the continuing support of someone like Dale and it is our pleasure to present him with this year's Golden Trout Award.
