Trout Unlimited joined forces with Pacific Market and Taku River Reds in the heart of California Wine Country on March 20, serving up samples of wild Alaska salmon and talking with shoppers about local Redwood Empire Chapter projects and TU's Pacific Market shoppers learned why wild salmon is the most sustainable food choice and how salmon lovers can get involved in California salmon restoration efforts. Pacific Market ran specials on wine from TU’s Water & Wine participants, who are improving their water management practices to benefit endangered salmon populations in California.
Shoppers also had the opportunity to talk with Alaskan salmon fishermen and learned about the Tongass National Forest in southeast Alaska, where the wild salmon were caught. "Every food item has a story, especially wild salmon which connects us all, from California through Alaska," said Scott Becklund, Pacific Market's seafood manager. View the press release.
