Fall is almost here and that can mean only one thing:
No, not Broncos' season - It's time for the annual fall cleanup on the Animas River!
Join us Sept. 21 at 10 a.m. at Santa Rita Park as we once again take care of the beautiful river at the heart of town.
Each year, Five Rivers and its friends gather at the park to tidy up after a summer of heavy use by locals and visitors alike.
Teams of volunteers will take charge of cleaning a defined stretch of the river and haul out bottles, cans, lost flip-flops, deflated inner tubes and all other manner of debris that builds up over the summer. We try to cover the entire city stretch of the river.
Families are especially welcome as this is a great chance to teach children to care for the environment.
The city provides trash pick-up; volunteers can bring gloves. The work usually takes just a few hours and goes even faster if we get more volunteers, so bring a friend!
We look forward to seeing you there!
