Mentoring kids

Kids and Mentors Outdoors (KAMO)

                                  Wisconsin Wildlife Federation

Dear Conservation Club Leader:

If there is one issue virtually all sportsmen and women agree on is the need to provide an opportunity for boys and girls to have the opportunity to learn how to hunt, fish, trap and to enjoy the outdoors. Many sports clubs have various programs such as hunter safety, kids fishing days and learn to hunt to accomplish this important goal.

The question is whether those young men and women will continue hunting, fishing, trapping and enjoy long term the important outdoor heritage of Wisconsin. Studies show that a one-time learning experience often is not enough to really insure that they will continue hunting, fishing and trapping.

On Saturday, March 8, 2014 Kids and Mentors Outdoors (KAMO)---a highly successful hunting, fishing and trapping mentor organization----and the Wisconsin Wildlife Federation will be presenting a brief program on how your organization can be successful in mentoring young men and women in your community to hunt, fish and trap. The presentation will take place at the Stadium View Banquet Hall, 1963 Holmgren Way, Green Bay,  starting at 10 am ending with lunch at noon and a chance for informal discussions with the leaders of KAMO on how your organization can be successful in mentoring new hunters, anglers and trappers. Presentations will be made by Mike Watt, DNR and Mark Walters and Ben Gruber, leaders of KAMO. (Important financial support is also being provided by the Oconto County Sportsmens Alliance).

Please have a member or two of your club attend this  free, brief presentation and learn how to start a successful hunting, fishing and trapping mentor program in your community.

Please let us know that you are coming so that we can assure sufficient food for lunch by sending an email or calling Wisconsin Wildlife Federation Business Manager Jennifer Evans at Jennifer@wiwf.org  or 920-623-9975 by March 1, 2014. Indicate what club you are from, how many will be attending and your phone number.

Thank you for your interest in getting and keeping more young men and women involved in the important Wisconsin heritage of hunting, fishing and trapping.

Sincerely yours,

George Meyer

Executive Director

Ps: This is also an opportunity to stop at the new nearby Cabelas and of course, the Packer facilities
