Southwest Virginia Outdoor Expo

September 13-14, 2014 - Friends of Southwest VA Outdoor Expo
The METU Chapter was pleased to participate in the Southwest Virginia Outdoor Expo on September 13. We were  in good company with many conservation and outdoor enthusiasts participating.  Thanks to Tony Pane, Heather and Kevin Davidson, Tina and Aaron Horton for volunteering to help.  The following info describes the event and its purpose.
The Appalachian Spring outdoor recreation initiative of Friends of Southwest Virginia [501(c)(3) non-profit organization] invites you to sponsor the first annual Southwest Virginia Outdoor Expo on September 13, 2014held at Heartwood: Southwest Virginia’s Artisan Gateway in Abingdon, VA. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a regional effort that supports community development with outdoor recreation as a catalyst to enhance the creative economy in SWVA. This is the first of its kind in Southwest Virginia (SWVA).
With your sponsorship, this Expo will raise excitement and awareness of the diverse outdoor recreation opportunities that are abundant across the region.  The Expo is organized around eight outdoor recreation anchors throughout the 19 counties/4 city region of SWVA as well as the local network of other outdoor recreation assets. These eight anchors include the Blue Ridge Parkway, Appalachian Trail, New River, Mount Rogers National Recreation Area, Clinch River, Breaks Interstate Park, High Knob Recreation Area, and the Daniel Boone Wilderness Trail (see!swva/c4vm for more information).
The first day of the Expo is designed to introduce locals and visitors to the unique outdoor recreation opportunities in the region. Businesses, clubs, college/university programs, public land managers, and non-profits will provide interactive clinics/demos, educational information, and family-oriented activities with live music and local beer for all levels of outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy. The second day, September 14, will consist of off-site excursions with the intention of getting locals and visitors out into the region and participating in various outdoor recreation activities.
To express your interest in sponsoring the Expo and for more information on payment, please visit the SWVA Outdoor Expo website and fill out the sponsorship form at!event-sponsor/c1ggx. A summary of the sponsorship levels and benefits are attached below and can also be found on the website.
