Boardman River

Tip of the week

Warmer temps will push the hatches and feeding. Hendricksons will emerge afternoons around 1-3pm. Hendrickson spinnerfalls will not come until the air temps are warmest around 4-6pm.Be prepared for both and recognize the emerger (dun) with the gray opaque wings and the spinner with the clear shiney wings. Look for them over gravel in areas like Brown Bridge, the Forks, and the North Branch.

Check out "The Gentleman's Hatch" ( to learn more about Hendricksons.

Remember that Opening Day is not until Saturday, April 29. Be sure to have your new 2017 license.

In downtown TC, early mornings are best in the lower river from Front St. Bridge to the mouth as skippers come in over night and become spooky as light and anglers arrive each morning. Suckers are now in the lower river and are in the way of steelhead anglers. Below Sabin dam, fish streamers middays when air temps are best. Swinging flies allows for slower presentations. Downtown, use indicators with single egg patterns and nymphs.

Seven-day forecast
