Cimarron River

Tip of the week

The better fishing is the lower part of the state park below Clear Creek and on the private water. In the mornings look for risers sipping in Tricos. As the day progresses fish will be feeding on misc. mayflies, little yellow stones, some hoppers. Water is on the clear side so wade quietly. If it is a hot afternoon the fishing will slow please don't over pressure the trout on the rare hot afternoon. Fish the edges with dry-droppers. In the deeper water might need to nymph. For dries use adult stonefly patterns. For droppers use Trico emerges, Brassies, Copper Johns and SJ Worms.

Seven-day forecast

Should continue to see Tricos through July and August. This is a great hatch to fish, has some challenging aspects with some good rewards for patient anglers.
