Brook trout have declined across the eastern range as the result of land use decisions made over the past several hundred years that increased sedimentation, nutrient runoff and water temperatures, and from more recent impacts as our population, road network and water needs continue to grow.  From Maine to Georgia to Ohio, brook trout have declined in many areas and have completely vanished from others.
