Summer Camps Create the Next Generation of Fly Fishers - TU Summer on the Fly

The TU Summer on the Fly program aspires to match the success of archery by putting fly rods in the hands of thousands of summer campers across the country.  Fly fishing teaches motor skills, concentration and patience, and kids love it.  But perhaps best of all, fly fishing fosters a conservation mindset.  TU Summer on the Fly is currently being promoted and expanded through a partnership between Trout Unlimited and the American Camp Association.

A Fly Fishing Primer

Summer on the Fly aspires to match the success of archery by putting fly rods in the hands of thousands of summer campers across the country.  Participating camps get all of the equipment and instructional materials they need to introduce kids to this wonderful sport.

Silver and Golden Trout Packages

Camps can opt into two different package sizes, and each contains:

  • High quality rod and reel combos from Temple Fork Outfitters
  • TU's casting and safety curriculum
  • Fly Fishing Leave No Trace
  • Orvis casting instruction DVD
  • Plus stickers for participating campers

TU-Endorsed Summer Camps

Camps participating in Summer on the Fly can join the TU-Endorsed Summer Camp program and have camp profiles listed on the national TU website and in Trout magazine.  Member camps continue to receive discounts on Summer on the Fly gear and supplies and receive regular curricula updates.
