On March 3, 2011, Trout Unlimited (TU) will host a dinner in Washington, DC to honor wounded servicemen and women by introducing TU’s new veterans service program. Thanks in large part to the support of the program’s lead partner, Telos Corporation, TU will be working with other organizations that use fishing and conservation as a way for wounded veterans to heal and rehabilitate.

The objective of this program is to expand and deepen TU’s grassroots involvement with veteran rehabilitation projects in watersheds across the country. TU will work with partner organizations to support angling instruction and quality fishing and conservation to wounded veterans. Veteran participants will be introduced to TU’s on-the-ground conservation work, youth education programs, and conservation-based community outreach initiatives.

The dinner will be co-hosted by Admiral Dennis Blair, US Navy (retired) and the former Director of National Intelligence and Gordon England, former Deputy Secretary of Defense and Secretary of the Navy; two very special guests who believe that wounded veterans should be given an opportunity to heal through the experience of angling. The Washington, DC offices of Arnold & Porter, LLP, are generously providing the venue for the evening.

We hope you will join other patriotic and conservation-minded supporters from the greater Washington, DC area in supporting returning veterans and TU’s new veterans service program by joining us on March 3, 2011.
