Please join us on March 25th for our chapter meeting and local guest speaker Erik Helm. He will be discussing spey casting and its application to Wisconsin fishing.
Erik Helm is an avid fly fisherman, fly-tyer, writer, and teacher based in Shorewood, Wisconsin near the Milwaukee River where he spends his evenings prying under rocks in search of deeper answers to life’s questions. Usually with a fly rod and a book in hand. Erik has spent countless hours fishing for steelhead on the west coast and the Great Lakes tributaries, as well as pursuing trout and bass. He is an accomplished casting instructor with both single hand and two-handed (Spey) rods, and has served as an instructor for Trout Unlimited and Federation of Flyfishers clubs and gatherings. He has shared his passion with thousands of beginning anglers. Erik is the Fishing Manager at the Milwaukee Orvis store, and produces the fly fishing blog “The Classical Angler”.
The kids fishing clinic is coming up in a few weeks. SEWTU typically plays a large role in volunteering for this event. We are asking that anybody who has some trout spinners bring them to the chapter meeting and donate them for the children to use. Mike Kuhr will be collecting all donations. Stay tuned for details about the actual event in a later email.
The meeting will once again be held at the Thunder Bay Grill (northwest corner of I-94 and the Hwy 164 intersection. For a map click HERE. Those who wish to join us for dinner should plan to arrive by 6 pm. The meeting will start close to 7:15 pm and Erik will speak shortly thereafter. If you would like more information, please contact me, Jim Wierzba at firstname.lastname@example.org We can't wait to see you there!
