Always the First Saturday in June, Troutacular is a celebration of Spruce Pine's Mountain Heritage Trout Waters designation.
This one day event is designed for children to learn and enjoy one of Mitchell Counties greatest resources.
From Sun Rise on, this free event for children, ages 14 and under, compete in a fishing tournament and enjoy other entertaining activities.

This event is completely sponsored meaning you pay nothing! It's FREE!
When exactly is it?
Troutacular is on the First Saturday of June.
When does this things start?
The event starts at sunrise but feel free to come anytime before noon.
How long does it last?
The fishing tournament ends at 12:00 noon
Is there an age limit?
Yes, children 14 and under.
Where do I sign my child up?
There will be sign up tables at the picnic area at Riverside Park.
What should I expect?
The area at Riverside Park will be stocked the night before the event so expect your kid (s) to catch some fish. After the awards are given out there will be a bobber derby with a cash prize.
Do I have to know how to fish if my child doesn't?
No, there will be a few pro fishermen there and fishing enthusiast to help your kids. Ask at the sign up area.
What do I bring?
If you have a pole, tackle box, cooler bring them. If you don't the NC wildlife will have a limited amount to lend to you. And of course don't forget to bring your kids.
What is the takeaway?
There are many prizes to take away from this tournament, the top male and female with the largest fish will receive a fishing trip with Rivers Edge Outfitters in Spruce PIne. All children will receive a cooler to take home their
