TU Western Regional Meeting
May 20 and 21
Park City, Utah

Utah Trout Unlimited is hosting this year’s meeting, and we take this opportunity to extend to you a personal invitation to attend. The meeting planning committee has developed an agenda with useful presentations on topics and problem solving indigenous to the Western region. Each presenter will give a short briefing on his or her topic followed by a question and answer period in an open forum format. We do have one topic the first day, problem solving and communication, which will be held in a slightly different format but with audience participation. Towards the end of the second day we will have breakout sessions; this should give us an opportunity for a one-on-one interaction with a number of national staff members. We also are strongly encouraging national staff to have input into all question and answer periods. We hope you will be able to join us. It should be a very informative and FUN.

Contact Information

If you need any information or have any questions about the 2011 Western Regional Conference, please contact Bob Dibblee at (630) 235-6558 or via e-mail at dibsent@aol.com.

Hotel Information

The conference will be held at the Park City Marriott. The hotel is holding a block of rooms for conference attendees at a reduced rate of $89, plus tax, per night. This is one of the finest hotels in Park City. The deadline for a room at the reduced rate is April 20. For more information and room registration, please visit http://cwp.marriott.com/slcpc/troutunlimited.

Council Report

We are asking each council to prepare an e-mail report, 3 to 5 pages maximum to share with the other councils. We would like to have this sent by May 1 so we have a better knowledge of some of your activities and projects by the start of the Regional Meeting. We would also like to have one of your members give a very short update at the beginning of the regional meeting. Please send your e-mail report to Beverly Lane Smith at blane@tu.org. Beverly will post all of these reports to the online Tacklebox so that you can read other council’s reports prior to the meeting.

Fishing Opportunity

We are pleased to offer a fishing opportunity on Thursday, May 19, for those who want to take advantage of spring fishing in the Park City area. Wade fishing will be offered on the Middle and Lower Provo and on the Weber. The water most likely on all three will be high and offering a challenge. If you want to fish a reservoir, the ice should be off the Strawberry Reservoir. We are offering some pontoon boats and rides in other boats. The water will be on the chilly side, but Cutthroat fishing should be good. I will update you closer to the fishing date on conditions, hatches and flies.

Additional Information

If you fly in, I would suggest renting a car. We do have free bus service in town, but at this time of year it does not run often. The fee to get from the airport to Park City is $35 and up per person. Car rental should be cheap at this time of year.

We are arranging a self pay fixed menu dinner at one of the finest Park City restaurants for Saturday night. The dinner should run about $35 per/person. We would like to have everyone attend if you are going to spend the night.
