After a week-and-a-half of sub zero temperatures (that'd be WAY below zero, like -25), the weather has warmed to the upper 30's, low 40's. So, I headed up to the Missouri River near Wolf Creek, Montana. Fishing was very good on nymphs and excellent on streamers. Caught some wonderful rainbows on the pink hot bead Ray Charles and some BIG rainbows on a black Gartside Leech, but the hot fly was a Platte River Special. Fish seemed to be in their "winter water', out of the riffles, and in softer runs. Looking at the 10 day weather forecast, there appears to be 4-5 days of mid-40' temperatures coming up. If I can wrap up the house and tree decorating this weekend, I might head back up early next week! If you're in the area, the Missouri is worth a visit!
