The photo above
features the late Bob Keller (left) with a nice false albacore caught on the annual fall blitz trip to Montauk, NY. Bob and his wife, Peg, whom many CCF members know as one of the group's founders and
steadfast champions, have fly-fished worldwide with fellow TUers.

We'll feature an image from a CCF trip or project in every issue of the CCF Angler. Send your favorite fishing photos to Matt Braughler at mbraughler@tu.org.

Alaska Steps Up to Felt-Soled Wader Ban

Alaska took a major step this year toward preventing the spread of aquatic invasive species. In response to a proposal by Juneau Trout Unlimited Chapter Member Mark Vinsel, the state Board of Fisheries agreed to ban the use of felt sole waders in Southeast Alaska's freshwater streams as of January 1, 2011. Dr. Jack Williams Talks About …

Helping Your Kids Find a Career in Conservation

Dr. Jack Williams isn't just TU's chief scientist -- he's also the father of two grown sons, both of whom have chosen careers in conservation. He offers some thoughts on how to nurture the next generation of fisheries scientists. Find out More.

Watch TU’s 50th Anniversary Video

On July 18, 1959, a handful of concerned anglers gathered at George Griffith's cabin on the Au Sable to talk about how to help Michigan's wild trout fisheries. From this humble beginning, TU has grown into the nation's leading coldwater conservation organization, with more than 140,000 members working out of more than 400 chapters nationwide. Watch a 10-minute video celebrating 50 years of success.

Deadliest Catch Crew Joins Pebble Opposition

"One earthquake, one leak, and we'd send a river of poison rushing down our best salmon streams, heading straight for Bristol Bay. Help us stop the Pebble mine before it becomes an Alaska disaster." This is the message behind print and broadcast ads created by Sig Hansen and the crew of the F/V Northwestern, one of the fishing vessels featured in cable tv’s top-rated series. The ads debuted in Alaska and nationwide this summer. Read more about the ads.

TU Staffers in the News

This past spring, TU celebrated passage of a major public lands bill, which set aside millions of acres of fish and wildlife habitat, including 1.2 million acres in the Wyoming Range. Check out a recent story in The Drake, which explains how TU Field Rep Tom Reed helped make it happen.

In June, Outside magazine featured commercial fishing boat captain and Alaska TU staffer Lindsey Bloom as part of a major story on the proposed open-pit mine at Bristol Bay. Watch a trailer for Red Gold and find out more about Bristol Bay Wild Salmon Week.

Poems with Fins

In Ballad of a Bighorn Guide, CCF member Harry Piper takes 60 years of angling experience and turns it into beautiful poetry. Read an excerpt and contact Piper about ordering the book. He will donate the $20 purchase price to TU or another fishing-related group.

You've got questions, we've got answers.
