Fall Blitz, New York, September 27–October 1, 2010

The fall blitz refers to one of the most impressive wildlife migrations on Earth: false albacore, striped bass and bluefish (not to mention sharks, whales and dolphins) moving past the east of Long Island by the thousands. For anglers, it’s a final adrenaline rush before winter, four days of fishing so intense that writer Peter Kaminsky once likened the chomping of stripers to the roar of a Roman stadium just before the kill. Fall Blitz, Montauk, New York, September 28-October 2, 2009This remains one of our most popular trips, and for 2010 we have once again reserved the best guides on Long Island, all of whom know as much about the history and ecology of Montauk as they do about finding and catching fish. At the end of the day, we’ll relax over gourmet dinners and fine spirits, before retiring to comfortable rooms at the Montauk Yacht Club. If we’re lucky, we’ll still be talking about this trip well into the winter.
