Madison River - Between Quake Lake and Ennis

Tip of the week
Techniques

Opening day on the Upper Madison has come and gone and the fishing stays very good. The river is in great shape with water level. The cool weather we have been having as well as the rain and snow melt has cooled the river. It has been taking a long time to warm up during the day so start off nymphing a stone fly and FKA Prince or San Juan Worm. Once it warms up in the afternoon switch to dry fly's. We have ben seeing a good may fly hatch about 2 in the afternoon which gets the fish looking up. Keep throwing a may fly but try a small dry stone fly as the fish are still looking at skwalas.

Seven-day forecast

The cool weather looks like it is going to stay for a while. No rush getting to the water early in the day. Afternoons are best.
