TU’s Randy Scholfield fishes the river and explains why the proposal is a bad idea.

Jed Fiebelkorn gets his feet wet with none other than former TU CEO, Charles Gauvin, who now has a little more time on his hands to pursue his beloved brook trout after stepping down as TU CEO in 2010. Matt Libby, the owner of Libby Camps hosts Jed and Charles on a fly-out adventure in northern Maine.

TU’s Upper Connecticut Home Rivers Initiative is dedicated to returning this once fabled brook trout stronghold to its former greatness. TU’s Joe Norton, Diane Timmins of New Hampshire Fish and Game, and local guide Angus Bozeman take Jed on a tour of this Eastern gem.

The “Jeff” has suffered from years of dewatering, but TU’s own Bruce Rehwinkel, and government partners like Ron Spoon are hard at work trying to keep flows in this trophy brown fishery and revive the rainbow population. Local Pete Holman shows Jed what lurks in his home water and our host drops in for a quick tour of the Sweetgrass Rod Company with author and renaissance-man, Jerry Kustich.

The story of mining’s affect on this watershed and the landscape is told by TU’s Pam Elkovich, who is hard at work on a reclamation project. While learning of Pam and TU’s commitment to the river, Jed floats the South Fork with TU’s Chris Topmiller.

Klamath River, CA
Steelhead and salmon swim 200 miles to reach the upper reaches of the Klamath River, but they once traveled much further than this, acting as the lifeblood of this enormous drainage prior to the construction of a series of dams. TU’s Chuck Bonham, and Karuk Tribal member Ron Reed, weigh in on this controversial issue. On-the-water, “Steelhead Jed” and superb angler Rachel Andras get bent with the help of her husband, Jim Andras.

The Batten Kill is considered the flagship of East Coast trout fisheries but presently faces a number of perils. Jed and the TU team are here to learn of these various threats and how TU and its assiduous partner Orvis are working to conserve, protect, and restore this magnificent fishery.

The stream that spawned a whole new design of river boat brings the TU crew out in hopes of tying-in to a McKenzie native, the Redband Rainbow. Karl Mueller and Chris Daughters take Jed on a wild ride down the turbulent, azure waters of this renowned river. Jed drops in on a unique 18-hole casting competition held annually in Bend, Oregon.
