On February 28, 2013, Trout Unlimited (TU) will host a dinner in Washington, DC to honor wounded servicemen and women. The Veterans Service Program is a nation-wide effort initiated by TU in 2011 to engage our 400 chapters and 150,000 members in the good work of bringing rehabilitation, healing and hope to our nation's recovering soldiers and disabled veterans. Thanks in large part to the support of the program's lead partners, Telos Corporation and the Goyanes Family Foundation, TU is working with Project Healing Waters, Wounded Warriors, and other organizations that use fishing and conservation as a way for wounded veterans to heal and rehabilitate.
The dinner will be hosted by Admiral Dennis Blair, US Navy (retired) and the former Director of National Intelligence, and Mr. Jeffrey Smith, Senior Partner, Arnold & Porter LLP and former General Counsel of the CIA, two very special guests who believe wounded veterans should be given an opportunity to heal through the experience of angling. The Washington, DC offices of Arnold & Porter, LLP, are generously providing the venue for the evening.
Through the great generosity of our sponsors and supporters, 87 TU chapters in 31 states have helped 2,375 veterans to date. TU volunteers have donated more than 50,000 hours in support of our veterans. In 2013 we hope to dramatically increase the number of veterans we help. We hope you will join other patriotic and conservation-minded supporters from the greater Washington, DC area in supporting returning veterans and TU's Veterans Service Program by joining us on February 28, 2013.
