In recent years, the South Fork of the Holston and Watauga rivers have become two of the South’s premier rainbow and brown trout fisheries, making this trip a popular offering with our CCF members. We’ll stay at the Watauga Ledges lodge, which overlooks what most consider the best trophy section on the Watauga River and is surrounded by nearly 300 miles of prime trout streams. Meals will be catered with a touch of local flair and taste. The trip features two days of float fishing for large rainbow and brown trout on the South Holston and Watauga rivers, and possibly one day of wade fishing for wild browns and rainbows and native brookies on smaller, more difficult-to-reach tributaries. Expect to see trout rising to prolific hatches of blue wing olive and sulfur mayflies in the afternoon, and smaller black caddis throughout the rest of the day. This is Southeastern fly fishing at its finest.
