Trout Unlimited’s On the Rise Launches on the Outdoor Channel
New fly-fishing program features TU’s conservation achievements
 

ARLINGTON, VA.— Trout Unlimited’s (TU) new television program, On the Rise launches on April 4 at 8 p.m. (EST) on the Outdoor Channel.

Hosted by Frank Smethurst, a Colorado fly-fishing guide, the show takes viewers on a tour of the country’s most compelling fishing spots, places where TU’s conservation work has helped to protect and restore places where trout and salmon live.

Smethurst takes viewers across the country, in search of trout, salmon and the people who protect them.

Traveling in a troutskinned Airstream trailer, Smethurst gives viewers an insider’s tour of America’s rivers and streams. The season’s adventures include fly- fishing for native trout on some of Montana’s famous rivers , the relentless pursuit of steelhead in Oregon, and traveling to North Carolina where Smethurst learns just how successful fishing a streamer in the middle of winter can be.

Each episode features local conservation work accomplished by Trout Unlimited. Fishing with local TU staff and volunteers, Smethurst finds out about TU’s on-the-ground efforts.

“On the Rise provides a great opportunity to showcase the work of our volunteers and staff to protect and recover trout and salmon and the rivers on which they depend,” said Bryan Moore, Vice President for Volunteer Operations at Trout Unlimited.

The program is produced by Barrett Productions, in Missoula, Montana.
