Statement of Trout Unlimited on FERC Dismissal of WYCO Application

Denver, CO — Trout Unlimited today praised the Federal Energy and Regulatory Commission's latest rejection of the application permit of Wyco Power and Water, Inc.’s Regional Watershed Supply Project, commonly referred to as the Flaming Gorge pipeline. Wyco developer Aaron Million had asked for a rehearing of his application after it was rejected in February by FERC. Today, FERC once again indicated that the application was premature and poorly conceived. See the ruling here:

Dave Glenn, of Wyoming Trout Unlimited, issued the following statement:

"Colorado can meets its water needs without resorting to costly, controversial and environmentally-reckless projects like the Million pipeline," said Drew Peternell of Trout Unlimited's Colorado Water Project. "We have less expensive and more pragmatic alternatives, such as municipal conservation, reuse, voluntary water sharing agreements, and small-scale storage. The era of huge pipelines has come and gone. Coloradans should follow FERC's lead and put the Flaming Gorge pipeline concept in the rearview mirror."
