I'm warming to streamer fishing for trout, but I'll be the first to admit, I'm a late convert. My aversion to heaving heavy flies into deep water using sink-tips, shooting heads or full-on sinking lines could more aptly be described as an abhorance of the inconvenient.

Trout Tips: Can you see your thumb?
When I first read the Little Red Book of Fly Fishing by Kirk Deeter and Charlie Myers, perhaps the tip that helped me the most was the idea that if you could see your thumb in your peripheral vision as you casted, you were casting within that old "10 and 2" range on the imaginary clock face.
