Position Summary

The Southeast Alaska Communications/Outreach Intern will report directly to the Southeast Alaska Outreach Coordinator and will be responsible for developing, organizing, and designing social media and web content for Trout Unlimited's Southeast Alaska programs and provide logistical support for program outreach. This position will work closely with the Trout Unlimited Alaska Program communications and outreach staff to defend Southeast Alaska's clean rivers and streams by supporting local campaigns. This is a summer internship with a flexible schedule. This position is based in Juneau, Alaska.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Designing and developing social media content
  • Organizing and editing campaign photo and video libraries
  • Updating and maintaining the organization's multiple social media channels
  • Updating and improving the organization's website
  • Helping to implement communications & PR plans for various campaigns
  • Assisting with setting up and staffing outreach events
  • Updating media contact lists
  • Writing and editing outreach and development materials
  • Tracking and posting the organization's media hits and social media stats
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Intermediate photo editing and design skills
  • Strong writing skills
  • Social media expertise
  • Weebly/Squarespace proficiency and/or ability to learn web platforms quickly
  • Demonstrated experience or interest in non-profit communications
  • A passion for protecting Alaska's clean rivers & streams
  • Motivated and detail-oriented
