Alaska Administrative Assistant

Position summary

The Trout Unlimited Alaska Program seeks an organized, reliable person with strong computer and communications skills to assist with administrative tasks in our Anchorage, Alaska office. The ideal candidate would have a background in office management, is highly organized and has some background in basic accounting skills.  The right person will work well both independently and be a critical member of hard-working team.  We are looking for someone who is resourceful, a self-starter and passionate about helping to ensure Alaska’s wild salmon and trout resources are around for future generations. This part-time position is based in Anchorage, Alaska. Flexible schedule. Opportunity for professional growth possible for the right candidate, dependent upon funding.  

Duties and responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the director and the Alaska staff team.
  • Track monthly revenue and expenses and provide budget updates to director and project managers.
  • Submit invoices for payment in a timely manner.
  • Process mail, check voicemails and track donations. 
  • Assist project managers with contract management and grant reports and deadlines.
  • Maintain office supplies and equipment.
  • Perform other ad-hoc requests as required as time allows.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required or 1-2 years of Office Manager or Administrative Assistant experience. 
  • Extremely proficient with web-based information systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong work ethic, including: punctuality, reliable attendance, highly organized, and the ability to work independently and establish priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Positive attitude with energy and willingness to adapt to changing priorities and do what it takes to get the job done in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Experience working as part of a team and ability to develop working relationships with colleagues when phone and email are your primary contact.
  • Ability to work efficiently and produce consistent, high quality work. 
  • Work history that supports experience with organizing, prioritizing, tracking and coordinating a variety of functions and/or tasks while consistently meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrates good written and oral communication skills. 
  • A spirit of collaboration, a sense of humor, and a passion for conserving Alaska trout, salmon and rivers for future generations are musts.
