Innovative WA project boosts flows, fish

by Randy Scholfield

When looking at conservation opportunities, TU thinks big. The Wenatchee River is an important but threatened salmon and steelhead fishery in central Washington. To aid in the recovery of this key river and enhance its fishing opportunities, TU's Washington Water Project has been working with partners for the last five years on a hugely ambitious project that modernizes a local irrigation system while also securing improved flows to the river. As project manager Aaron Penvose notes in the video, it's the largest irrigation efficiency project of its kind to date in Washington--and a win-win for anglers and local ag producers.
