TU Teens of Gallipolis had an action packed spring, with many fishing trips to other states, and fishing in our area as well.

We kicked off the spring with some fly tying demonstrations from Master Tier James Eggers. James came into the classroom setting and demonstrated fly tying, the students also had hands on experience and a few great flies were created! The students and I hit several local farm ponds in our area and many bass and blue gill were brought to the net.

Mostly this spring was busy with fishing trips. Here are a list of high lights:

  • A trip with Master Guide Dave Brietmeir at ELKFISHER.COM, Dave knows the Elk River like the back of his hand. What a great guide, and extremely helpful for new fly fishermen/women, of all ages!
  • A trip over spring break to the south Holston and Watauga rivers in TN was quite enjoyable. On this trip we also fished four different native brook trout stream with much success!
  • The TU Teens of Gallipolis group was also featured in the TROUT magazine (Spring edition 2017).
  • A few days into summer we took a huge trip to the Manistee River in Northern Michigan, what a blast!! I will go into details with pictures on the Summer blog!

Until next time, TIGHT LINES!
