Women's retreat in Madison a success

For the last three days, 15 women from TU chapters around the country gathered in Madison to learn how they can work together to better engage women in TU. In that short time, we built camraderie among the members of the group and arrived at a course of action for the next year to help bring more women into the work we do.

Each woman had a different reason for being at the retreat. Some were longtime TU leaders, while some had only been members just a few months. They came from Montana, Missouri, Connecticut, Washington and all parts in between. There was a gear show, where women "modeled" the latest fly fishing gear, and, of course, there was a little fishing. Wisconsin volunteers guided women on area streams and most women caught fish in addition to using their technical skills on the water.

It was a great opportunity to work together to bring more women into TU--and plans are undersay for a 2014 retreat. Stay tuned--we would love to see you there!

I really hope to be there next year!  I'm glad to hear that the retreat was a success.  Did the folks gathered discover anything surprising that they had in common?

It was really nice to get to meet so many wonderful and energetic women!  As promised here is a picture of the "little" trout I caught.
