Schedule

Friday, March 27 – Optional day of fishing and no host dinner
Minnesota Trout Unlimited is excited to host the 2015 Upper Midwest TU regional meeting and welcome fellow TU volunteers from across the region and country for a day of free, hosted fishing with local chapter members. Southeastern Minnesota is home to more than 700 miles of trout streams that will be open for catch-and-release fishing during our regional meeting. Trout fishing in late March often means nymphing. If the weather is cool, and the snow melt is slow or nonexistent, expect low, clear water. If snow melt is in progress, or we get some spring rain, streams could be higher and off-color. If we get lucky and the snow is all gone and the daytime temps are hitting the 50’s or better, there could be some sporadic hatches.

For those interested in fishing as part of your visit, here are some things to note.

Fishing Licenses: For non-residents, Minnesota offers both a 24-hour license option (Code 139 - $12) and a 3-day license option (Code 127 - $32).  In either case, a MN trout stamp validation is not required (but certainly appreciated!). Click here to purchase and print your fishing license online

Fishing Maps: Click here for maps of Southeastern Minnesota trout streams The streams we may fish include Hay Creek (maps 13 and 16),  West Indian Creek (map 10), Cold Spring Brook (map 10), East Indian Creek (map 11), Middle Branch Whitewater River (map 7), and Trout Run Creek (map 7).
