About Us
CFS is a team of experts conducting watershed assessments, assessing fish populations’ productivity, limiting factors, and habitats, and prioritizing and designing fish-focused restoration projects. We are a 100% employee-owned company with more than 80 fisheries biologists, ecologists, geneticists, biometricians, engineers, fluvial geomorphologists, and biotechnicians at six locations throughout the Pacific Northwest and California. For more than 30 years, our focus has been on empowering natural resource managers, co-managers, and communities with the best available science and practical solutions to environmental issues, particularly those that threaten Endangered Species Act (ESA)-listed fish.
What we do
We specialize in Pacific anadromous salmonids, their life histories, population monitoring, and restoration. Members of our multi-disciplinary team bring together their specialized expertise to provide a full suite of services to assist natural resource managers. Specifically, we provide watershed planning and assessment, fish population and habitat monitoring, life cycle modeling, migration studies, diet and predation analysis, habitat surveys, data management, environmental compliance and permitting, resistance board weirs, low-tech process-based restoration, restoration engineering design, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and design, and restoration construction oversight.
Where we do it
We have six Labs throughout the Pacific Coast, in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and California:
Watershed Sciences Lab in Issaquah, WA
Fish Ecology Lab in Portland, OR
River Assessment and Design Lab in Boise, ID
Modeling Analysis and Synthesis Lab in Meadow Vista, CA
River Science and Restoration Lab in West Sacramento, CA
Research and Development Lab in Ripon, CA
Our work extends from these offices to projects in the Coast Range, Puget Sound, Willamette Valley, Cascades, North Cascades, Columbia Plateau, Blue Mountains, Northern Rockies, Snake River Plains, Coastal Sage, Northern Basin, Klamath, and Southern California Mountains ecoregions.
