About Us

Our story began in 2001, when Dave and Alice started sharing their love of Southeast Alaska’s waters with visiting anglers. What began as a small family operation built on hard work, hospitality, and a passion for fishing has grown into Family Air Tours and The Hook Up Fly Shop—a business still rooted in the same values today.

From the beginning, the focus has been simple: give people an authentic Alaska fishing experience. Over the years, we’ve helped guests from all over the world explore the rivers, lakes, and remote wilderness of Ketchikan while chasing salmon, trout, and steelhead. Along the way, we’ve built lasting friendships and a reputation for honest service, local knowledge, and unforgettable days on the water.

Today, the business is proudly operated by Jim Davis, continuing the tradition with the same hands-on approach and passion for the outdoors. Whether it’s a guided fly fishing trip, a fly-out adventure, or help gearing up at the shop, we’re proud to carry forward what Dave and Alice started—sharing the places and fishing we love with others.

Where we do it

We operate in the heart of Southeast Alaska, based in Ketchikan—one of the most productive and scenic fishing destinations in the state. Surrounded by the Tongass National Forest, countless rivers, alpine lakes, saltwater channels, and remote wilderness, our backyard offers endless opportunities for adventure.

Our guided fishing trips take place on local roadside streams, hidden lakes, and remote waters accessed by floatplane, giving guests a chance to experience places few visitors ever reach. We also operate scenic flights and charters throughout the region, including the world-famous Misty Fjords National Monument.

From town to the backcountry, every trip is built around showing guests the wild beauty and incredible fishing that make Ketchikan and Southeast Alaska so special.
