Great Basin Chapter Chapter

The Great Basin Chapter is part of the Utah TU Council. The chapter is based out of Elko, NV. We are lucky to have five native salmonids in Elko County. Lahontan Cutthroat Trout (LCT), Bull Trout, Interior Redband Trout, Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout, and Mountain Whitefish. Our favorite waters, including conservation and restoration projects, are the Bruneau River, the Jarbidge River, the Owyhee River, the Ruby Marsh, and the high alpine lakes of the Ruby Mountains. The Chapter's project area includes areas within Elko and White Pine Counties, NV, and in Western Utah counties of Millard, Juab, Tooele, and Box Elder Counties, Utah. The Chapter's keystone species of concern is the Pure population of the Pilot Peak Strain of the Lahontan Cutthroat, a T&E species residing in only two creeks in the East Slope of the Range, in Morrison and Bettridge Creeks. This species is the focus of TU's work to protect the Stain on cooperation with the Utah DWR, BLM, USFWS, and the Landowner. For more information and how to join us, please use the contact form below.
