Ensure continued success for your chapter or council by planning for the future.
A Trout Unlimited chapter is often only as strong as its leadership. A good board can turn an ailing chapter into a vibrant one, but no board will last forever. It is imperative that chapter leaders proactively plan for the next generation of leaders to step up, ensuring the health of the chapter into the future.
We know that there is a wealth of willing volunteers in every community in America who want to get involved in a meaningful way; people who want to be much more than ‘armchair conservationists’. Actively identifying and recruiting these prospective leaders is an essential responsibility for a chapter board.
An essential part of this process is the implementation of a Nominating Committee. This committee of volunteer leaders identifies leadership needs, then recruits and trains prospective volunteer leaders to take over when the current class of leaders moves on. The Nominating Committee Matrix can be a helpful template to ensuring you recruit people with the requisite skills to meet your chapter’s leadership needs.
