Jako Lucas has been fly fishing the world and making movies about it for some time now, but his latest effort about the massive fish of Yakutia might be one for the ages. The region most folks only know exists on the playing map of the boardgame “Risk,” is plenty fishy, as you’ll see in the trailer.
This area of the Sakha Republic in northeastern Russia is a slice of Arctic paradise that’s seldom visited, inhabitated by just a handful of Yakuts and Russians and is home to massive taimen and brutally agressive char and northern pike. I’m anxious to see the film in its entirety at the coming Fly Fishing Film Tour, which kicks off this weekend in Denver.
Enjoy…
