Video spotlight: Striker’s Point Lodge

In the summer of 2017, I was lucky enough to join a group of friends on a quick trip to northwest Ontario, where we visited a couple of lodges with Mark Melnyk, who works for Wildnerness North, which owns and operates a handful of lodges in the North Woods.

One of these lodges was Stiker’s Point, which is situated on Whitewater Lake. Home to trophy northern pike and some of the best walleye I’ve ever experienced on the fly, this place offered something for everyone, and Melnyk is a fly-fishing afficianado, so our group felt particularly at home.

Mark also works with the New Fly Fisher, which produces some stunning fly-fishing videography, largely from remote locales in Canada, but also from some American fly fishing destinations. The short video above — featuring my buddy Mark — made me miss Striker’s and its healthy, aggressive pike. I’ve become an unabashed pike enthusiast, and the boreal woods of northwest Ontario are among the best fly-fishing destinations for this toothy predators.

Check it out. See if it doesn’t make you want to pay the place a visit.
