Applying for Grants

Applying for Grants

Grant funding accounts for 15% of all charitable giving in the U.S. and can be a great way for your chapter or council to tap into larger funding pools and take on larger and more complex projects. However, it is also a competitive area with many competing interests and organizations vying for those same funds.

Often, the process of finding and applying for grants can take anywhere from six to 18 months, and requires that you have a sophisticated approach to your efforts. Your Volunteer Operations Staff is here to help along the way, so don;t hesitate to reach out with questions or for feedback.

Also, don’t forget about Embrace A Stream, TU’s internal grants program for chapters and councils, which annually awards more than $100,000 in grants ranging from $1,000 to $10,000. If you’ve never applied for a grant before, this is the perfect place to start to build the skills needed to seek grants from other, external, sources.
