Fly fishing Oregon and beyond with Chris Daughters from The Caddis Fly Shop

Chris and Shauna oregonflyfishingblog.com

The Caddis Fly Angling Shop in Eugene, Ore., has been around for over 40 years, long enough to see its influence expand from a great regional shop to a real force on the fly-fishing scene. Like all great shops, this starts with the owners — Chris Daughters and his wife Shauna. They’ve owned the shop for almost 25 years.

Chris is a born Eugenean, and he grew up fishing the McKenzie. It all started back in the day, when Chris and his dad took a fly fishing class at the shop he now owns. From learning to fish to learning to row, it was just what he loved. Chris started working in the shop when he was 12 and grew to love it and love his home water. That love and that knowledge runs deep at the Caddis Fly Shop. They know their home water — and lots of other waters worldwide.

What’s more, they’ve been solid TU supporters for years. They‘ve supported the local Eugene-based Redsides Chapter with in-kind donations, use of shop space, and promotion of chapter activities and more.  The shop serves as a community center for conservation-minded anglers in the lower Willamette Valley. All that served as the basis for becoming a Gold Level TU Business Member.

If you talk with Chris very long, you can’t help but connect with his great love for his local rivers. He can talk about the place they occupy not only in his heart but in the hearts of people in his community. He can speak about the connectivity between people and the waters they love. And he can speak with decades of experience in fishing those same waters.

Check out The Caddis Fly Angling Shop online, or stop by when you’re in Eugene. They’re the real deal.
