So, here’s the deal. If you don’t want to do this, your fly fishing soul is dead. Granted, simple finances and the challenges that come with travel to remote places where golden dorado congregate in cold, clear rainforest waters might make this a dream adventure that never comes true. But if a part of you doesn’t yearn to see these fish take your fly with your own two eyes, something is wrong.
These fish are true eaters, and the Bolivian jungle might be the best place on earth to sight-cast to these predators in clear water. It’s a trip that’s on my list. It may stay on my list for a lifetime, and I’ll take great pleasure in the films and photos of others chasing these incredible fish without ever getting to cast to them myself.
But at least my soul’s not dead.
